Buell X1 Ligntning
Harly Davidson 1200cc Twin engine, bumped to 100bhp and stuck in a sportsbike chasis. This one has UK gearing so is doing 3000rpm @ 30mph in 1st gear and 4000rpm @ 100mph in 5th. Forcewinder filter and V&M system fitted.
Bike handles very well indeed and feels well planted on all road surfaces. |

Just starting the engine and you find yourself grinning, such is the roar from the engine. Engine quickly settles to a steady thump and on tickover. The bars and indicators shake and the bike vibrates like it's about to take off. However, then you're on the bike and riding there's little vibration and runs very smoothly. The low revving engine can potter around 2000-3000 RPM and still be doing national speed limits, but change down and open it up and the noise of the bike is like something of a yesteryear racetrack. With around 100BHP it's not the fastest thing around, but it's a very small bike with a low seat height so handles very well. Had it almost 13 yearsand it's proven to be a very reliable bike and hasn't let me done once. Excepting the usual oil & filter changes, tyres and brake pads etc. has cost very little to maintain. Overall a great bike. |
